Fall Improvement Opportunities

During the fall there will be opportunities for our elementary and middle school players to work on their game.

The elementary will have open gym/skill workouts on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm at the elementary. This is something that has not had a high attendance yet, and something I would like to get going. Any suggestions on better times or days would be greatly appreciated!! I am flexible and willing to get a day/time that works for people.

Also, the middle school boys will have a free voluntary shooting camp that will run every sunday from 6:30-8:00 at the middle school gym.

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail!

Have a great fall,

Additional Open Gyms for Grades 7-9

It has been brought to my attention that our current open gym schedule for grades 7-9 is going to cause a conflict with speed camp for some players. In light of that, I have tentatively arranged an ADDITIONAL open gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This does not replace the 6:30-8:00 open gym, it's just an additional open gym, we still have those times, the purpose for the second open gym is so that speed camp participants can still work on their basketball. The additional open gym is from 9:00-10:30 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for the rest of July. Again, this open gym is for players who are attending speed camp and won't be able to make the regular open gym time (6:30-8:00).

Also, the players have told me that they would like an open gym on Mondays for an hour so they can spend additional time working on their shooting. That open gym time is Mondays from 9:00-10:30 as well for the rest of July.

All of these open gyms will still be held at the middle school, except for this week as everything is at the high school because the middle school gym floor is being redone. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will do my best to help you out.

As always, none of these open gyms/workouts are mandatory in any way. I just want the players in our program to have every opportunity to work on their basketball skills.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Temporary Change of Venue for the 10-12 Open Gym

Just so everyone is aware, the high school gym is being resurfaced for the next two weeks. So in light of that, our open gym for grades 10-12 will be held at the STC Middle School. The times are exactly the same.
The dates for the open gyms at the middle school are: Wednesday June 17th, Sunday June 21st, Wednesday June 24th, and Sunday June 28th. After this time, the open gym for grades 10-12 will be back at the high school.

Welcome Players, Parents, and Fans

Greetings! The purpose of this blog is to help keep you informed on the happenings with the South Tama County Basketball Program. As the new coach, I am very excited to get things started here! The purpose of this blog is to help keep everyone informed about what is going on with our program.

I would like to direct every one's attention to the open gym schedules on the right side of the page. These open gyms are critical to the development of our basketball players and are vital to having a successful program year in and year out. I would encourage players to attend as many of these as possible. Parents and fans are also welcome to attend and watch if they would like.

The format for these skill sessions/open gyms is players come in for the first hour and work on fundamental development drills to enhance their individual skills. We work mostly on shooting, ballhandling, and a little bit of passing during this time. The second hour of the skill sessions/open gyms is time for the players to just play or work on whatever they choose.

Please stay tuned to this blog for updates throughout the summer and throughout the season. I am very excited to build a championship level program here at South Tama County.
